Born in the Scottish Highlands
Liz Warnock, the founder, was captivated by the land, people and palette of the Scottish countryside: "During my first visit there, something struck me of the abundant natural beauty. Perhaps stemming from my love of photography and art, I was inspired by the stunning Highland colors.
That same trip I discovered Highland sporting tweed β itβs durability, functionality, strength and itβs cunning history as camouflage captivated me. I also was surprised by the exciting and vibrant colors of many of the Highland tweeds.Β
Janie & Liz
All this discovery took a wonderful leap when my husband and I decided to renovate an old Georgian manse house built in 1843 into a country house hotel, Links House at Royal Dornoch. Having no experience as hoteliers other than a life of travel, we were unconstrained by convention. Our guests began to inquire about it, so we had a few products made and they sold well. Inquiries about other colors began and then so did my idea for J&L Tweed. Its name represents Janie, my daughter and me, Liz
The success of Links House gave me the confidence to launch J&L Tweed. My goal was to introduce the unique visual essence of the Scottish Highlands into the global fashion market with colorful and spirited, yet classic tweeds and cashmere.
All the fabrics are made in the Scottish Highlands and named by me for places I have visited in the area. The makeup bags, eyeglass cases & dog coats are made right here in Dornoch, then I add a vibrant color leather tassel to compliment the fabric and interior of the bag, plus I include a photo I have taken during my time in the Highlands.
I hope you enjoy my J&L Tweed Collection. Each product is designed and hand crafted with the timeless quality, extraordinary beauty and unique sensibility of the Scottish Highlands.
And perhaps my Collection will prompt you to travel North and come see for yourself the extraordinary beauty that is the Scottish Highlands.
